My wife Sara, daughters Hazel and Luka, and dog Morgan have lived and participated in ministry to youth in Hillsboro for 3 years now. Sara and I attended Tabor, but the only graduate was I with a degree in Biology. Sara went on to pursue earning her PhD in Pharmacy at KU and is now serving in the local pharmacy. I have a masters in teaching and instruction from Pittsburg State and have taught high school sciences for several years. This is what life had in store before being called to ministry by many at Hillsboro MB, a church where I had served for two years in college with the high school ministry. I suppose I had left well enough an impression for them to call someone with no other ministry experience. Thus, God has used this church and its family to bear with me as I serve humbly and continue to grown and learn in this ministry. I know God has been blessing the work here and raising up young devoted Christ followers who are pursuing God with all passion and heart. I count it a privilege to witness this transformation. And most of all I thank God and their families for their prayers and support.

Worship Music & Choir Director

Bruce has been serving at Hillsboro M.B. Church since fall 1997. He never dreamed that God would give him this opportunity to direct a talented choir and plan and lead worship regularly. He thanks God for giving him this privilege. His goal is to provide meaningful and expressive worship experiences for God’s glory. Bruce is married to Janell, and has five children, Benjamin, Emma, Elise, Claire, and MaryElena—ranging from elementary school to college! Bruce has a full-time job as chemistry professor at Tabor College, and in the brief moments of his spare time, he likes to cook, read, and spend time with his family. Bruce relies on God for strength and one of his favorite verses is from Romans 8:31, “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Bev was born in Hillsboro, KS and graduated from Tabor College with a degree in Business Education. She taught business classes at Central Christian High in Hutchinson, KS for 4 years, as well as coached the high school girls’ basketball team. She became a stay-at-home mom when David, now age 18 and Nathan, now age 16, were born. She and her husband, Brad, served as adult and youth teachers at the Zoar M.B. Church in Inman, KS for 12 years before moving to Hillsboro. Bev’s family began attending the Hillsboro M.B. Church in January of 1998 where she has served as a high school girls’ Sunday school teacher and teacher for various children’s classes. She also served on the Christian Education Committee for 5 years. Bev’s life took an exciting turn when God called her to be on staff at Hillsboro M.B. as Christian Education Coordinator in February of 2007. She received her Board Certified Biblical Counselor certificate in April of 2008 and is very much looking forward to the things which God has in store for her as she works together with both the children and adult ministries.
